Michael and Lori received the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony on April 17, 2004. They are the blessed parents of eight children: Michael Jr., Mariana, John Paul, Therese, Julia, Chiara, Celeste, and Timothy.
The Lavignes live in North Dighton, Massachusetts.
Michael Lavigne is a native of Woonsocket, Rhode Island. He currently serves as the Assistant Cabinet Secretary for Evangelization and Discipleship at the Archdiocese of Boston, which includes his work as Director of the Office of Lifelong Faith Formation & Parish Support and President of The Institute for the New Evangelizaton.
Previously he was the Senior Associate to the Episcopal Vicar for the New Evangelization in Boston and prior to that he was the Director of the Office of Lifelong Faith Formation for the Diocese of Portland, Maine.
For the past 28 years he has served the Catholic Church as a retreat coordinator, coordinator of youth ministry and religious education, diocesan leadership team moderator, coach, high school theology teacher and department chair and confirmation coordinator. On the side he has served as a member of the school committee of his hometown. He is a workshop presenter and retreat facilitator who covers a wide array of topics – from Evangelization to Chastity to the Eucharist to the Dignity of Life.
Michael’s most important roles, outside of being a disciple of Jesus Christ, are that of husband and father. He is married to Lori and they are the proud parents of Michael Jr., Mariana, John Paul, Therese, Julia, Chiara, Celeste, and Timothy.
Michael has earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in psychology and communications from Rhode Island College, as well as a Master of Arts degree in theology from Providence College.
Lori grew up in North Providence, Rhode Island. She attended Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio for her Bachelor of Arts in theology and Providence College for her Master of Arts in Religious Studies. She has worked for the Church over the past 12 years in various roles, such as coordinator of youth ministry and director of faith formation. Lori currently serves on the evangelization and formation team at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Seekonk, Massachusetts.
Her most important roles (after being a disciples of Christ), however, are as wife to her husband Michael (since April 17, 2004) and as mother and teacher to their eight homeschooled children: Michael Jr., Mariana, John Paul, Therese, Julia, Chiara, Celeste, and Timothy. She enjoys public speaking and sharing the message of the Gospel with all ages!
